Since the end of January 2024, Aeropers and Edelweiss have been negotiating a new collective employment agreement for pilots. The Aeropers pilots' association has called for improvements in the ability to plan social life and a sustainable financial perspective. Nevertheless, Edelweiss has so far shown no real willingness to talk, which led Aeropers to break off negotiations for the time being on April 11, 2024.

Clemens Kopetz, president of the Aeropers pilots' association, emphasized Edelweiss's rigid stance and the pilots' desire to advance their legitimate interests. To emphasize this concern, the pilots and the workforce addressed the CEO of Edelweiss, Bernd Bauer, directly. An oversized postcard with the signatures of 219 pilots, representing 82% of Edelweiss members at Aeropers, was delivered to the headquarters at Zurich Airport.

According to Aeropers, the campaign illustrates the unity of the pilots in their demand for a sustainable financial perspective and a predictable social life. In doing so, you also support your association. Janos Fazekas, board member of Aeropers, emphasized the urgency of improvements in the collective employment agreement in order to meet today's social realities.

The pilots remain ready to find a solution acceptable to both sides. However, if no new collective employment agreement has been agreed by June 30, 2024, there is a risk of a contractless situation from July 1, 2024.
