At the beginning of the month, the Latvian airline Air Baltic celebrated its 20th anniversary at Palanga Airport, which is connected, among other things, to the Riga hub.

Since the airline's first flight on this route on April 1, 2009, Air Baltic has carried more than 545 thousand passengers and operated over 11 thousand flights between both cities. This year, Air Baltic plans to expand in Palanga by starting direct flights to Amsterdam. The first flight is scheduled for May 29 and the airline will operate two weekly flights on this route. In 2024, Air Baltic will connect Lithuania to 19 destinations and continue to base two aircraft in Vilnius.

“Lithuania is one of our home markets and we are committed to improving connectivity from there. Over the years we have seen passenger growth on this route and are pleased to be able to offer our customers a wide range of travel options with a one-stop connection via Air Baltic's home base. Our recent announcement to launch a direct connection from Palanga to Amsterdam in May underlines our commitment to increasing our market share in Lithuania,” explains company boss Martin Gauss.
