Air Europa takeover: EU Commission requests further documents

The EU Commission has requested further information and documents in the review process of the planned takeover of Air Europa by the International Airlines Group. The point is that additional concessions are demanded.

The review periods are suspended until the documents and proposals are submitted. “We can confirm that the Commission has stopped the clock on its investigation into IAG’s takeover of Air Europa, with effect from February 9, 2024. As soon as the missing information is submitted by the parties, the clock will be restarted and the statutory deadline for the Commission's decision will be adjusted accordingly," explains a Commission spokesman. This means that the original deadline, which would have run until June 7, 2024, will most likely not be met.
