Just a few months ago, Lufthansa boss Carsten Spohr categorically ruled out the sale of "silverware". Now they want to raise one billion euros with the sale of the credit card subsidiary Airplus.
The transaction should go through in the summer of 2021, reports Reuters, citing two people familiar with the matter. Lufthansa should expect sales proceeds of around one billion euros. This can be put to good use in view of the severe losses caused by the corona pandemic. It is also suspected that the funds could be used to further repay the government loan.
The sale of Air Plus, the international catering business of LSG and other non-airline areas were already mentioned in the 2020 annual report. These should be checked and evaluated. This is what it says in the annual report that was published last week.
