“Ski and snowshoe tours offer a sporty nature experience with addictive potential. It's not surprising that more and more people are getting excited about it. But you should never ignore the risks - that's why it is very important to us at the Alpine Club to convey the basics of safe tour planning and to train the athletes in the correct use of emergency equipment," explains Michael Larcher, mountain guide and leader the mountain sports department in the Alpine Club and speaker at the avalanche update.

Larcher appeals to every tourer to take a close look at their equipment before their first tour: “This doesn’t just mean taking the skis to the service and packing emergency equipment in their backpack, but also practicing intensively in advance in order to be safe in an emergency to be able to deal with it.” There are also methods when planning tours and making decisions in the terrain that help minimize the risk of an avalanche accident.

The Alpine Club sections offer support with their on-site avalanche courses, the Alpine Club's SicherAmBerg instructional videos, and the lectures as part of the “avalanche update”, which can be seen across Austria from November 23.11.2023rd, 13.12 and on December XNUMXth. can also be experienced via a live stream.
