For the purpose of "purchasing aircraft", Singapore Airlines organized itself on the capital market through a bond issue of 500 million US dollars. According to the company, the paper was oversubscribed by $ 2,85 billion.

The bond has a term of 5,5 years with an interest rate of three percent. "The issue further strengthens the company's liquidity position and offers SIA the financial flexibility to achieve medium to long-term growth beyond the Covid-19 pandemic," the carrier said in a press release.

In the financial year 2020/2021, which ends in March, Singapore Airlines organized itself so far ten billion US dollars on the capital market. The highest bond to date was issued in April 2020. The company said it had left $ 6,6 billion of the $ 1,3 billion at the end of the year.
