Rail strike: Eurowings, Flixbus and Lufthansa with more bookings

The Lufthansa Group and Flixbus appear to be benefiting from the train drivers' strike called by the GDL union in domestic German traffic. Both groups are recording significant increases in short-term bookings.

Due to a six-day work stoppage in a collective bargaining dispute, many Deutsche Bahn AG connections are canceled or sometimes severely delayed. Lufthansa, Eurowings and Flixbus seem to be able to “benefit” from this, because in the short term they receive significantly more bookings in domestic German traffic than usual.

The Kranich Group explains that, if possible, larger aircraft will be taken into the air in order to be able to offer additional capacity. As things stand, the railway strike will last until Monday next week. Until then, rail travelers must expect significant restrictions.
