According to a newspaper report, the US aircraft manufacturer Boeing plans to cut around 2.000 jobs in finance and human resources this year through a combination of fluctuation and layoffs.

“Over time, some of our corporate functions have grown quite large. And with that growth usually comes bureaucracy or inconsistent systems that are inefficient,” the Seattle Times newspaper quoted a company spokesman as saying. Boeing did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Last year, Boeing announced that it would lay off around 150 finance employees in order to simplify the company structure. The Virginia-based company announced in January that it would hire around 10.000 employees by the end of the year.
