The US aircraft manufacturer Boeing is temporarily suspending test flights in the 777X program. The background is that an unspecified problem was identified with the aircraft's GE9X turbo engine.

Both Boeing and GE Aviation are currently investigating the issue. It is currently not foreseeable when the test flights can be resumed. The engine technical issue occurred during post-certification testing on October 6, 2022. A Boeing 777-9, registration N779XW, was on several test flights between Seattle and Moses Lake in the United States when one of its GE9X engines failed. The engine has already completed more than 2.600 flight cycles and around 1.700 operating hours
