The US low-cost airline Breeze Airways wants even more A220-300s. To this end, an order was placed for 20 more copies. This increases the order volume to 80 copies.

The handover of the first copy, which already bears the colors of the lowcoster, has been announced for the fourth quarter of 2021. The aircraft's paint job was completed at the Airbus facility in Mobile, Alabama, which will ship approximately one A220 per month to Breeze over the next six and a half years. The airline plans to start flights with the Airbus fleet in the second quarter of 2022.

The carrier is a start-up around David Neeleman, who had already founded Jetblue. Breeze Airways currently uses Embraer 190/195 aircraft. The long-term plan is to use 80 Airbus A220-300s. The carrier is also said to have ambitions regarding a possible Embraer E2 order.
