Thorough inspections of runway 25L/07R carried out over the past week have indicated that short-term maintenance is required to ensure the runway's health and safety.

The closure of the runway every afternoon and evening from today, first for further inspections and preparatory work, then for the actual work from June 19 to 28, will have an impact on the use of the runway. In addition to the maintenance work, the use of the runway is also determined by the wind component, which has severely affected the use of the runway in recent weeks. Brussels Airport and its partners are doing their utmost to minimize the impact of this work.

A thorough inspection of runway 25L/07R last week revealed that maintenance work was required to ensure its good condition and smooth operation. Apart from the normal wear and tear of the pavement, the deterioration of the runway could also be due to the changing weather conditions, ie heavy rains followed by higher and higher temperatures.
