The Spanish airline CanaryFly will cease its flight operations from January 11th to March 21st, 2021. The company justifies the step with the recently tightened entry and quarantine regulations.
Company boss Régulo Andrade said in a media statement: “There are many regular passengers who have stopped flying due to the pandemic. The Canary Islands have stopped traveling for pleasure or leisure and only move between islands when absolutely necessary. This has led to a significant decrease in the load factor of practically all of our flights over the past few months. "
CanaryFly's fleet consists of six ATR72-500, which are used almost exclusively in traffic between the Canary Islands. An ATR72-500 freighter was recently purchased. This will soon be used commercially. The competitor Binter Canaris announced that flight operations between the Canary Islands and to the Spanish and Portuguese mainland should be maintained. A setting is currently not considered.
