At the height of the holiday season in August, the industry association ADV recorded around half as many passengers as in the same period two years ago.

A total of 11,7 million people used the airports. Compared to 2019, that was a decrease of a little more than 52 percent. Air traffic recorded a slight increase in domestic flights due to the train drivers' strike - but even connections within Germany only reached 30 percent of the pre-pandemic period. Compared with the so-called Corona summer 2020, however, the total number of flight passengers has almost doubled: At that time, air traffic was largely paralyzed due to the pandemic.

The cargo volume continues to grow in double digits: 424.061 tons mean +15,6 percent compared to the previous year, compared to 2019 it is +12,2 percent. The number of commercial flight movements is +34,0 percent above the previous year, but significantly lower than in 2019 at -40,0 percent. The airports recorded 126.834 take-offs and landings.
