The Federal Association of the German Aviation Industry considers the strikes called by various German transport unions to be “excessive and inappropriate”. In 2019 and 2022 alone, German airlines and airports recorded a total loss of revenue of over 395 million euros due to strike activities in air traffic.

The industry association is of the opinion that the “level of appropriateness of the warning strikes” has now been exceeded. “The unions are weakening the material basis of companies and their employees,” says Matthias von Randow, managing director of the Federal Association of the German Aviation Industry. “The money lost as a result is now missing from expenses for employees and for investments in climate protection and the stability of flight operations.”
