Germany has lifted the mask requirement on public transport

Last week, Germany was one of the last European countries to lift the mask requirement on public transport. Some federal states had already abolished these beforehand, but you had to wear FFP2 masks in long-distance traffic until the very end – at least officially.

Since February 2, 2023, this obligation no longer exists. It has also expired in those federal states that recently required masks to be worn on public transport. In a European comparison, the Austrian federal capital is pretty much alone with its special route, which is hardly noticed by many passengers in everyday life.
