Do & Co Aktiengesellschaft has not been spared the consequences of the crisis either and has to use the red pencil. In the first three quarters of 2020/21, the catering company recorded a drop in sales of 75 percent to 189,9 million euros and a net loss of almost 36 million euros.

The aviation industry in particular is contributing to this devastating result. Because the Covid 19 pandemic slowed down global air traffic almost completely. And with it the catering on board the airlines. As a result, the “Airline Catering” division suffered a massive drop in sales of 74,9 percent to just 134,5 million euros. Twelve months ago, this part of the company generated almost 540 million euros. "The decline in sales and earnings is solely due to the effects of the CoV crisis," it says in the broadcast.

The fourth quarter of the current financial year will not bring any great improvement either. Nevertheless: the group remains confident. Because despite the crisis, important airline orders were won. Do & Co is taking over the in-flight service on all Delta Air Lines short and long-haul flights from Detroit - and will thus become the US airline's sole hub caterer for the next ten years. In addition, Air Premia in Seoul and, more recently, Jet Blue, rely on the services of the caterer. Just like existing customers: Business relationships with Qatar Airways and Etihad have been intensified. In addition, the contract with Gulf Air in London was extended for a further four years.
