Domestic flights: Delta introduces free WiFi

The airline Delta Air Lines plans to offer free WiFi on most domestic flights from February 1, 2023. This is realized in cooperation with the US subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG, T-Mobile USA. To use it, passengers need to be a member of the carrier's frequent flyer program.

While only a few carriers in Europe offer free WiFi or if the technology is installed at all, horrendous prices have to be paid, Delta wants to offer the service free of charge. Initially, this is limited to domestic flights within the United States of America. Simply logging in is not possible, because you need a so-called SkyMiles account.

In partnership with T-Mobile, the airline will offer its service on more than 2023 aircraft equipped with satellite network operator Viasat by the end of 700. By the end of 2024, free WiFi should even be available on international and regional flights. All you need to do is register with your existing SkyMiles account or join the loyalty program quickly and free of charge on the ground or in the air.
