DRV sharply criticizes the increase in the aviation tax

The controversial aviation tax in Germany is to be increased again on May 1, 2024. This is now also being heavily criticized by the German Travel Association. The government formally launched the project last week.

The DRV fears that one or another airline could subsequently collect the tax increase from their passengers, thereby also placing an additional burden on early bookers. In general, a later introduction of the increased tax rates would have been better for the industry. When it comes to the recovery of aviation, Germany is lagging far behind the EU average - especially in domestic German traffic - and monopolists are charging above-average ticket prices on many routes.
