The oil company Shell and the airline Emirates have signed a contract for the supply of around 1.35.624 liters of SAF fuel. These are to be made available at the Dubai hub.

The first SAF delivery under the agreement is expected to take place later this year. The agreement marks the first time that SAF fuel will be delivered through the DXB airport refueling system.

“We are proud to partner with Shell Emirates in Dubai to provide the first SAF offering and use the Avelia platform. This offers business travelers the flexibility to achieve their sustainability goals and reduce their ecological footprint while traveling. We hope that this collaboration can be further expanded to ensure a continuous supply of SAF to our hub in the future, as there is currently no SAF manufacturing facility in the UAE. Air transport plays an important role for Dubai and the UAE economy in general. We look forward to continuing to work with like-minded organizations and government bodies to find viable solutions that increase the use of SAF, a currently very limited fuel, in the aviation fuel supply chain and support Emirates' efforts to reduce emissions in ours support the entire operation,” said Emirates boss Tim Clark.
