The Turkish holiday airline SunExpress has so far operated 186 special flights to bring rescue and medical personnel to the earthquake area in Turkey as quickly as possible. . Almost 5.000 rescue workers and medical staff were transported to the earthquake region in this way - including, for example, a 30-strong team of doctors from REWE with medical equipment. With the return flights of these relief flights, the airline has so far evacuated almost 11.000 people affected by the earthquake.

“All of us in the SunExpress family are still shaken and shocked by the terrible tragedy that happened in Turkey and Syria. There was no question for us that we would do our utmost to help the brave and hard-working rescue teams and citizens in the affected areas. We reacted within a few hours after the disaster and converted our flights into relief and rescue flights. In this way, medical aid and material for the evacuation arrive on site as quickly as possible. In addition, we are planning to set up an air bridge between Germany and Turkey in order to transport the countless donations that reach us and thus continue to support the relief efforts," says EunExpress boss Max Kownatzki.

SunExpress will continue to operate free evacuation flights on domestic routes from Adana, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kayseri, Malatya and Mardin until February 20, 2023.
