A captain of the US airline Delta has to answer in Edinburgh for being found drunk by security forces before boarding the flight on June 15, 2023. Furthermore, two large Jägermeisters were found in his pocket.

According to a BBC report, he was supposed to command a Boeing 767 bound for New York. The police ordered the temporary arrest. The pilot pleaded guilty in court and admitted that he had arrived for duty under the influence of alcohol. A report was read out in court. This shows that he had 49 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood. The legal limit of a maximum of 20 milligrams would have been significantly exceeded. The fact that he pleaded guilty from the start and was shown to have voluntarily undergone therapy could be interpreted as a mitigating factor. The court postponed the verdict so that there is still no criminal decision.
