The state-owned Egyptian airline started direct flights to Israel on Sunday.

The first plane landed on Sunday at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv, as reported by the aviation portal Aero. According to internal information, four weekly flights between Cairo and Tel Aviv are initially planned. Previously, Egyptair's subsidiary Air Sinai had flown on the route for decades, but it discontinued the flight connection due to Corona. Egypt was the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with Israel in 1979, but relations were long considered chilly.
