For the first time, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer gives an insight into its turboprop project. Despite the failed takeover of Boeing, this is to be achieved with new partners from the Asian region for commissioning by 2027. While the cabin is closely based on the E-Jet, the rest of the shape of the aircraft is reminiscent of a revival of the former in-house regional aircraft Embraer 120. With a passenger volume of between 80 and 100 seats, Embraer would like to compete with competitors from ATR, Bombardier or even Position Ilyushin. Insiders expect an official project start under the name “E3” in the coming months so that they can soon enter into specific sales talks with potential customers. In view of the global aviation crisis with massive decreases in passengers and shifts in the air traffic markets due to the corona pandemic, the Embraer turboprop project could arouse great interest among the airlines.
