Emirates SkyCargo is further expanding its capacities for the handling of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals and vaccines in Dubai and is adding 94 aircraft pallet spaces to the cold store.

The expanded cold room provides an additional 2.600 square meters of temperature-controlled environment (2-25 degrees Celsius) for the storage and handling of vaccines and other pharmaceuticals. The company is thus providing additional capacities at its hub in Dubai in order to be prepared for the continuously increasing demand for the transport of COVID-19 vaccines. According to the company's own information, an estimated 60-90 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines can be ingested at once.

“Emirates SkyCargo is proud to have flown more than 350 tons of COVID-19 vaccines around the world, delivering much-needed support to regions still hard hit by the current wave of the pandemic. We always plan ahead and assume that the demand for vaccines in developing countries will increase in the second half of the year. From today's perspective, we will hit the 100 million can milestone before the end of this month, ”said Nabil Sultan, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Cargo.
