Emirates adopts vertical indoor farm

Emirates Flight Catering, one of the world's largest catering companies, is taking full ownership of the vertical indoor farm Emirates Bustanica, including the consumer brand Bustanica, with immediate effect.

Bustanica indoor vertical farm is located near Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai World Central. At 330.000 square meters, the facility has the capacity to grow more than 1 million kilograms of high-quality leafy vegetables per year. This corresponds to three tons per day. Water consumption is 95% lower than in conventional agriculture.

Under the brand name Bustanica, the food produced is available at all major retailers in the UAE. Passengers on both Emirates and other airlines are already enjoying the fresh produce in their meals and salads.
