In the wake of the ongoing relaxation of travel restrictions around the world, Emirates has announced the use of its flagship A380 for other travel destinations from October and November.

Emirates has daily flights to Vienna with the A380, and the number of A380 destinations is to be increased to 27 by the end of November. This corresponds to an increase of more than 65 percent. According to its own statements, the airline is well on the way to restoring 70 percent of its capacity by the end of the year and offering more than 280.000 seats in its route network.

The A380 route network will be expanded to include eleven routes and additional frequencies on the most popular routes by the end of November. In the next six weeks, Emirates will resume its A380 routes to leisure and business travel destinations such as Amsterdam, Barcelona, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Johannesburg, Madrid, Milan, Riyadh (subject to regulatory approvals), Sao Paulo and Zurich.

First A380 flight to Turkey

The airline will also add a new route to its A380 network: the flagship is scheduled to fly to Istanbul from October 1, making it the first A380 flight to Turkey. Emirates wants to offer its passengers almost 165.000 additional A380 seats.

The A380 fleet is growing

The airline's A380 fleet will grow to a total of 118 aircraft by the end of the year. These include six aircraft that are equipped with premium economy seats in a 4-class configuration. The airline currently flies to more than 120 destinations, which corresponds to 90 percent of the route network before the pandemic. With more than 50 A380s back into service, Emirates plans to reach 70 percent of total capacity by the end of the year.
