FedEx feels falling freight demand

Once upon a time, the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 and MD-11 were the backbone of the FedEx freighter fleet. The first model mentioned has already been phased out and the successor is now also being attacked.

FedEx's latest annual report shows that there has been a sharp drop in cargo demand. Partly for this reason, the aging MD-11 fleet was reduced by 12 copies. Currently there are still 45 units in operation. At its peak, there were 113 DC-10s and 75 MD-11s. With 118 examples, the Boeing 757 is the dominant type.
