The production of components for the Airbus A321XLR has now started. First, the assembly of the first front, middle and rear fuselage sections will begin, announced the aircraft manufacturer.
"We are already building large and small components and systems for the first A321XLR flight test aircraft worldwide," explains A321XLR program manager Gary O'Donnell. “At the same time, we are already testing and checking structural parts and systems to ensure that they function reliably. With the help of the construction plans, the plants and suppliers prepare for the beginning of series production and for the actual construction of the first parts. In the second half of the year, the finished components will then be delivered to the final assembly line in Hamburg ”.
The Airbus A321XLR is a variant that has increased range compared to the LR variant and is also based on the A321neo. A new integral tank with more capacity should make the model suitable for many long distances. Since this measure also increases the MTOW, all sections are strengthened.
