The German Air Traffic Control (DFS) is checking the instrument landing system necessary for safe landings so that the aircraft can continue to land safely at Frankfurt Airport.
From September 30th to probably October 3rd, the precision of leading signals will be measured with a special measuring aircraft, as reported by the aviation portal Aero.
The signals are important to support the pilot with navigation during the approach. The southern runway at Frankfurt Airport is examined during the survey. If the weather does not play along with the measurement or the technology goes on strike, the check will be continued on an alternative date between October 29 and 31, the company said. When measuring, attempts are made to avoid flying over towns. According to the DFS, the instrument landing system must be checked at regular intervals.
