The Civil Aviation Authority of Georgia has banned the Belarusian airline Belavia from using Boeing 737 aircraft on flights from Minsk to Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi.

The background to the decision is that there is considerable resentment among the Georgian population that there are flights to the Russian Federation again. Many citizens are also bothered by the Belarus flights. In some areas, Georgia has joined western sanctions. Thus, Belavia is prohibited from using Boeing 737 in the airspace of Georgia. However, the Belarusian carrier still has the option of serving the routes with Embraer 190 regional jets.
