The tour operator Springer Reisen is offering holiday trips from Graz to the Greek islands of Paros, Skiathos and Naxos in the 2021 summer season. The last-mentioned destination has not been operated without a change from Styria since InterSky's insolvency.

The Naxos destination was set up from Graz by Georg Pommer, the Tyrolean charter manager for many years. With the phasing out of the DHC Dash 8-300 model, the tour operator Springer had to look for a new airline partner. This was found with InterSky and they worked together successfully for many years. The Austrian regional airline went bankrupt in 2015 and the route has been idle ever since.

The tour operator is now chartering planes from the Greek Skyexpress. This also enables the comeback of the Naxos flights. A technical stopover is required due to the local conditions on the Greek island. Therefore, these are so-called direct flights. In contrast, Paros and Skiathos are operated as non-stop flights, i.e. without a stopover, for jumpers.

“Our goal is to offer tailor-made holidays for Carinthia and Styria: discover new things, find something special and develop the tried and tested. For us, this means offering regional departures, finding family hotels and placing particular emphasis on the surroundings, the circumstances and the people. Springer Reisen takes off weekly from June to September. A small, modern type of aircraft from the Greek private airline Skyexpress with a maximum of 58 seats will be flown ”, says Andrea Springer, Managing Director of Springer Reisen. The regional airline will use the ATR72 model.

"Springer Reisen has been an important partner for Graz Airport for many years, who always dares to try new things, even in challenging situations, and above all offers niche destinations that are very popular with Styrians," explains Wolfgang Grimus, Managing Director of Graz Airport. "With Naxos and Paros we even have two common destinations in our portfolio that are not offered by any other airport in Austria."

It starts at the beginning of June

The island of Paros is one of the most beautiful islands in Greece. On the sister island of Naxos, famous for its white marble, there are endless beaches and hidden bays. The picturesque port of Naoussa is one of the oldest and most beautiful in the Cyclades. Paros is offered every Saturday from / to Graz with a direct flight.

Naxos gives its visitors a feeling of freedom and yet it is like vacationing with relatives. The largest island in the Cyclades is simple, special and beautiful. The water glitters in three colors, the beaches are Caribbean white, fine sandy and kilometers long. This year, from June onwards, the island will again be offered with a direct flight from Graz every Saturday. A little further north is the third island in the league: Skiathos. finest sand and crystal clear water on more than 60 beaches make this island a bathing paradise. There are flights from / to Graz on Sundays.

According to Springer Reisen, the first flights to the three Greek islands will be carried out at the beginning of June 2021.

The ATR-72 is not allowed to land on Naxos, so the ATR-42 from Sky Express will probably be used on the Naxos flights ...

The ATR72 is allowed to take off and land with a so-called payload restriction in JNX. Whether that is a good idea is another matter.

Nevertheless, the flight from Graz to Naxos is planned to be carried out with an ATR-.42.
The corresponding “transfer flights” to position the aircraft for the Graz rotation to Naxos (ATH-JNX 07: 30-08: 10 / JNX-ATH 18: 40-19: 20) are planned with ATR-42 and can, by the way be booked regularly with Sky Express ...
