The aircraft manufacturer Airbus and the Air Asia Group, which was hit by the corona pandemic, were able to agree on prices and delivery dates. In doing so, the manufacturer accommodates the customer and can thus prevent several large orders from breaking away.
Officially, the two contracting parties do not want to comment on a Reuters report that refers to people familiar with the matter. However, it is highly likely that an agreement could be reached. Large orders for around 400 aircraft were at stake for Airbus.
In advance, Air Asia stopped the down payments that had to be made depending on the progress of construction. This really pissed off the Airbus group management. Delivery slots were given to other customers, including Condor. According to Reuters, a deal has now been closed that includes 13 A320neo, 379 A321neo and 76 A330-900. Air Asia will take over the orders much later and Airbus accommodates the troubled group both in terms of prices and payment methods. This enabled the aircraft manufacturer to avert a total failure of the large order.
