Ground incidents: IATA requires warning systems

Unpleasant collisions between ground equipment such as passenger stairs or vehicles and parked commercial aircraft are occurring more and more frequently at airports. The IATA is now demanding that appropriate collision warning systems should be introduced.

Airlines and insurance companies incur enormous costs every year due to damage caused by ground equipment. According to IATA, these should add up to several million US dollars every year. Now it is demanded that the ground equipment should be equipped with appropriate warning devices.
