Hand luggage: Spanish consumer protection favors low costers

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Spanish consumer protection organization has sued the airlines Ryanair, Vueling, Easyjet and Volotea. Specifically, it concerns the hand luggage regulations, which deviate from the IATA standard dimensions. Remarkably, other carriers, such as Wizz Air, Condor and Eurowings, who also apply such regulations have not (yet) been sued.

The General Directorate of Consumer Affairs in Spain accuses the defendant airlines of violating local laws. However, the affected carriers deny the allegations. If they prevail, the regulations could not only be banned in court, but fines could also be imposed on the airlines.
