Inflation: Airlines have tightened the price screw

An evaluation by the comparison portal Check24 showed that flight tickets to the 30 most popular summer holiday destinations have become 17 percent more expensive on average. A comparison was made with the price level of the previous year.

The price increases between Germany and Bangkok have been particularly severe. According to the evaluation carried out for the Funke media group, prices have risen by around 52,6 percent. On average, 1.000 euros are due for the return in economy class. In the direction of the USA, it is said to have become more expensive by only 6,1 percent.

Within Europe, some of the price increases are also in the double digits. For example, flights to Rome cost 44,2 percent more and 38,7 percent more to Barcelona. In the direction of Greece it was 24,2 percent more expensive, to Lisbon 27,2 percent more and to Faro it was 10,4 percent more expensive. Notably, Istanbul tickets increased in price by just 10,1 percent.
