ITA Airways relies on “double” premium eco

The Italian state carrier ITA Airways wants to go on long-haul routes with 13 Airbus A350-900s and ten Airbus A330neo in the future. According to company boss Fabio Lazzerini, the machines will have four transport classes.

These are called Business, Premium, Comfort and Economy. This creates two classes that will be located in the premium economy area. The main difference between Premium and Comfort should lie in the fact that Comfort Class will be closer to Economy than to Business.

In the course of the presentation of the ITA Airways brand, Fabio Lazzerini announced the aforementioned classes of carriage. However, this is a medium-term project, as initially the flight will be in the configuration that has been adopted from Alitalia. Gradually, the existing aircraft are to be converted and repainted in the new design.

Lazzerini also emphasized once again that a dual hub concept is being used in Rome-Fiumicino and Milan-Linate. At both airports one cannot afford to lose market share to other carriers. The predecessor Alitalia has lost numerous take-off and landing rights at the inner-city airport of Milan, which were taken over by Easyjet, Blue Air and Wizz Air, among others. Ryanair also came to the train, but decided not to start in Linate.
