Ita Airways: Cockpit union and Anpac agree to close ranks

In response to Lufthansa's planned entry into Ita Airways, the Cockpit Association and its Italian counterpart Anpac have agreed to work more closely together. However, the presidents of the two unions also want to protect the interests of employees in both countries.

Indirectly, there are fears that there could be a competition to the bottom within the group. This is indicated by statements by CEO Carsten Spohr, who recently said that Air Dolomiti should in future increasingly carry out feeder services from/to Rome-Fiumicino for Ita Airways.

"We have reacted to the latest developments within the Lufthansa Group in the German-Italian union of the unions and agreed on close coordination," says VC President Stefan Herth. “Within the German Lufthansa flight operations, we have already established a well-functioning network with the group tariff commission. We are also in close contact with our colleagues in Switzerland and Austria. The logical consequence of this is not only to come into an informal exchange in the direction of Italy, but also to coordinate our activities together. Looking beyond the Lufthansa Group, we finally need a legal framework for collective agreements that apply across Europe. To this end, the unions will continue to influence the public and politicians.”
