The Canadian government apparently considers the US aircraft manufacturer Boeing to be unsuitable as a candidate for a multi-billion dollar fighter jet contract.
According to a Canadian Department of Defense person familiar with the matter, Boeing would not meet the standards for the application. The American aircraft manufacturer had previously applied for the order with its F-18 Hornet model. A Boeing spokesman said on request by email that the company reserves the right to comment until there is an official announcement from Ottawa, according to ORF. In addition to Boeing, Lockheed Martin and the Swedish Saab AB had applied for the delivery of 88 jets worth around 15 billion dollars.
