British Airways will receive a loan of two billion pounds sterling in light of the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. This is provided by a bank consortium. The United Kingdom guarantees a part of the amount through UK Export Finance.
The parent company International Airlines Group announced that the first tranche is expected to be called in January 2021. The funds are to be used to improve British Airways' liquidity. With the credit line, the IAG subsidiary wants to position itself more flexibly. The group of companies assumes that demand will stabilize again in summer 2021.
