Air Baltic will be the first airline in the world to issue non-fungible tokens.

The so-called NFTs are unique cryptographic tokens that cannot be replicated or destroyed. They act as virtual collectibles and are guaranteed to be forgery-proof. Air Baltic will issue an Airbus A220-300 as well as selected works of art from Latvian cities as limited collector's NFTs. It is clear where the journey should go: in the long term, even airline tickets should be issued in the form of NFTs.

“Blockchain technology has proven itself over the long term. After we were the first airline to accept the crypto currency Bitcoin as a means of payment, the next step in blockchain technology is for us to offer non-fungible tokens, ”says Air Baltic CEO Martin Gauss. The release date of the first Air Baltic NFTs is to be announced in the course of April.
