The Polish airline LOT can breathe a sigh of relief: After the EU gave the green light, the first state aid will flow to the troubled airline. But the price has to be paid by the workforce.

Because the conditions for state support include cost reductions. Otherwise not a cent of the total of 650 million euros that the EU Commission waved through at the end of the year. Up to 300 employees are now feeling this. LOT claims to have to delete so many positions. This is necessary in order to adapt to the new reality in the corona pandemic, reports the aviation magazine airliners. The employee representatives have already agreed. In the first six months of the year 150 employees would have to believe in it, and another 150 older workers should leave in the course of the next two years. Like other airlines, LOT was hit hard by the corona pandemic. The company recently announced it expected two million passengers this year. In 2019, more than 10 million passengers were carried.
