Spafax, a global leader in in-flight entertainment and media solutions for airlines, has announced the continuation and deepening of its strategic partnership with Lufthansa Group, one of the world's leading aviation companies, until 2028. This move is in line with Lufthansa Group's goal to revolutionize passengers' journeys by integrating state-of-the-art entertainment options on and off the plane.

As part of this comprehensive partnership, Spafax will strengthen its already established Frankfurt account team with new resources to support Lufthansa Group and expand its capabilities in this important European market. Future projects will focus on in-flight entertainment and cover all key in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) touchpoints. In addition, Spafax will streamline the process of selecting and delivering content via the cloud.

Spafax is responsible for selling third-party advertising and will support the Lufthansa Group in securing appropriate brand partnerships to improve the passenger experience and increase revenue. The partnership will span multiple channels and provide passengers with a complete digital experience from the time they book to the moment they land. Highlights of the expanded collaboration include:

  • Technical integration: Through its technical innovation portfolio Spafax One, Spafax will integrate next-generation entertainment solutions into Lufthansa Group's digital touchpoints, including streaming children's television at airports and offering in-flight podcasts directly to passengers' devices.
  • Content and collaborations: Spafax Content Services promises a diverse global offering of entertainment content with a focus on the highest quality European content, while unique brand partnerships brought by local and international teams will further differentiate the passenger experience.
  • Strategic revenue optimization: Lufthansa Airlines has added International Media Sales to Spafax's services for the first time to help them optimize revenue across their growing media portfolio.
  • Customized solutions: The Lufthansa Group airlines, including Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Discover Airlines and Edelweiss, receive tailored solutions that strengthen their brand identity while ensuring the group's efficiency.

“We are excited about the opportunity to shape the future of the IFEC experience for one of the most forward-thinking airline groups in the world. This transformation is already underway and we look forward to the next five years of innovating both the customer experience and our service to this valued customer,” said Henry Gummer, Managing Director Europe, Spafax. “This newly expanded agreement is a testament to our shared commitment to media excellence throughout the customer journey. With Spafax One we have the tools to achieve this change for customers and brand partners. Our Spafax Studio will help promote and reinforce Lufthansa Group’s commitment to a first-class IFEC customer experience.” The Lufthansa Group airlines involved in the agreement are Lufthansa, Discover Airlines, Swiss, Austrian Airlines and Edelweiss Air.
