The insolvency court responsible for the low-cost airline Mango will not decide on the future fate of the carrier until Friday, August 6, 2021. The South African High Court Johannesburg announced that it would like to give the parties more time to prepare their submissions.

In the meantime, the SAA subsidiary Mango had to cease flight operations. The South African Cabin Crew Association (SACCA), the Mango Pilots Association (MPA) and the National Union of Metalworkers South Africa (NUMSA) have applied for Mango to be placed under bankruptcy protection.

The outstanding amounts to the employees should amount to around 57,3 million US dollars. No wages were paid in the last two months. Previously, the workforce should only have received partial amounts, so that arithmetically up to six monthly salaries should be outstanding.
