The airlines Jetblue and Spirit Airlines do not want to accept the ban on the proposed merger. A district judge's ruling is being appealed.

For the first time in a very long time, the merger of two airlines was not approved in the United States and also prohibited by a judge. The reason for this is that this would be anti-competitive. The two carriers want to take action against the decision and have announced that they will appeal.

“Jetblue Airways Corporation and Spirit Airlines, Inc. announced today that they have jointly filed an appeal with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in accordance with the requirements of the merger agreement,” read a joint statement.
