Mexico: Aeromar has to throw in the towel after 35 years

The Mexican airline Aeromar had to cease flight operations after around 35 years. Recently, the company was plagued by financial difficulties. Since 2020, it is the second carrier in this country to have had to go out of business.

Aeromar last had 21 domestic destinations and served three international destinations. According to official information, the company has accumulated a mountain of debt of around 600 million US dollars to airports, service providers and the Mexican government alone.

Aeromar's fleet last consisted of three ATR42-500, two ATR42-600 and six ATR72-600. In the past, it also had ATR42-300 and CRJ-200ER and CRJ-200LR regional jets in operation.
