Mönchengladbach Airport (MGL) together with the professional for historic aircraft, Flying Legends GmbH, and the flight school Blue Sky Aviation invite you to the open day on June 18th to a unique auction.

A special guest awaits visitors at this year's open day: the Mustang P-51D "Frances Dell" of the Flying Legends from the Siegerland airfield. A highlight for all aviation enthusiasts - and not the only one. Together with Flying Legends GmbH and the Blue Sky Aviation GmbH flight school, MGL has launched a special campaign.

The seat of the co-pilot and the associated flight from the MGL to Siegerland Airport with the Frances Dell will be auctioned. The winner has the unique opportunity to experience the myth of the P-51 for themselves and also to do something good. The proceeds of the auction will be donated in full to the children's hospice Insel Tobi e. V. in Mönchengladbach. The flight school Blue Sky Aviation GmbH takes care of the return flight from the Siegerland to the MGL.

"We look forward to being able to present a unique aircraft to visitors at the open house and at the same time to making a contribution to a good cause," says MGL Managing Director Andreas Ungar. "We hope for a lively participation." The auction will be handled via eBay. Interested parties can submit their bids from June 06th to 16th, 2023 (minimum amount €500,00).

The Mustang P-51D "Frances Dell" is a legendary aircraft developed by the US Army Air Forces. The 1671 hp fighter plane reached a top speed of over 700 km/h. Today, the "Frances Dell" is a valuable collector's item and a symbol of the bravery of the pilots of the time - and now also part of the fundraiser for brave little patients and their families. The Insel Tobi eV children's hospice is a non-profit organization that supports seriously ill children. It offers various therapy focuses, broad support and care during difficult times.
