There is now a lot of rocking in Fontanella. Two handcrafted swings made of solid oak wood, originally called “Hutschn”, were installed in Fontanella and Faschina. The “Land of Swings” – which originated in the mountain village of Damüls – is being expanded to include two new locations. You can now swing above the Seewaldsee in Fontanella with a view over the Große Walsertal and at the middle station of the Stafelalpe panoramic cable car in Faschina with a view of the Rote Wand in the Lechquelle Mountains.

“This joint project between the Alpenregion Bludenz Tourismus and Damüls Faschina Tourismus underlines our good cooperation in the interests of tourism in the region,” says Wiebke Meyer, managing director of the Alpenregion Bludenz Tourismus GmbH.

Mathias Klocker, Managing Director of Damüls Faschina Tourismus, is also enthusiastic: “I am pleased that the four Damüls Hutschn have grown in our partner community of Fontanella. This expansion fits perfectly into the mission statement of the Land of Swings.”

The original Hutschn

Oak dried for several years, connected with hand-spliced ropes, handmade in a master workshop in Berchtesgadener Land: the Hutschn are more than simple swings and seats. Rather, they are art installations, embedded in the natural landscape of the Großes Walsertal Biosphere Park. They also invite visitors to change their perspective. Through the forward and backward movements, the view of the surroundings can be sharpened again and again. This not only offers an opportunity to slow down, but also encourages reflection on acceleration and deceleration in our everyday lives.

In addition, a special exhibition on the subject of swinging is currently taking place in the FIS Ski Museum Damüls. Visitors can look for clues, experience digital experiments “with the future” and take a visual journey into the historical past of swinging using original photographs.
