From July 20th, a Railjet with an Austrian Airlines flight number will travel between Salzburg and Vienna Airport every hour between 5:00 a.m. and 20:30 p.m.
Austrian Airlines is forced to compensate for the loss of the Salzburg-Vienna flight connection. And that's exactly what the carrier does: In cooperation with ÖBB, up to 20 AIRail trains will run daily between Salzburg Central Station and Vienna Airport from July 31th. That is more than tenfold compared to the previous 3 connections per day.
“By train, Vienna Airport can be reached from Salzburg in well under three hours and without having to change trains. That is why our AIRail offer is a good and more environmentally friendly alternative to flights. We are confident that in future we will be able to welcome many Austrian Airlines guests on the AIRail from Salzburg, who will then switch to long-distance and Eastern European flights in Vienna, ”said Austrian Airlines CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech.
