Austria: Union Vida prepares railway workers' strike

The negotiations for a new collective agreement for railway workers have come to a standstill. The Chamber of Commerce announced that the negotiating table would be left for the time being and the Vida trade union was threatening an all-day warning strike, which was to take place across Austria on Monday.

First of all, it is the ÖGB Presidium's turn, because this must give the go-ahead for the work stoppages that Vida is planning for November 28, 2022 from midnight to midnight. If there is no rapprochement between the union and the Chamber of Commerce, there should be massive restrictions on rail traffic on Monday.

Not only the Austrian Federal Railways are subject to the collective agreement in question, but also all private railway companies. While a high level of participation can be expected for ÖBB, this is unclear for private railways. However, in many cases the ÖBB infrastructure is used, so that there can also be restrictions from this point of view for the private sector.
