The aviation industry in particular has been struggling with the corona virus and its consequences for months. To this day, many people around the world have lost their jobs. The fact that there were not more is also thanks to the short-time working model. This will now be extended for a further six months from October.
A new model was to be expected, as the currently applicable short-time work expires in September. With the amendment there are some adjustments. The minimum working time has been increased from ten to 30 percent. In exceptional cases, however, it can be undercut with the consent of the social partners. However, employees on short-time work continue to receive 80 to 90 percent of their net income. The companies (only) have to pay for the work actually performed. The job market service (AMS) continues to cover the difference.
Vienna Airport is also pleased with the new short-time working model: “This extension by a further six months offers companies the support they need to cope with the dramatic crisis. This basis is important for companies in order to keep as many employees as possible in employment for the time of the crisis and to bridge the loss of demand, who will be needed again after the end of the crisis. At the same time, however, the flexibility should be created to make essential, individual adjustments at the operating level, ”says Günther Ofner, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG.
